Professor Flavia Piovesan is Professor of Constitutional Law and Human Rights at the Faculty of Law, Pontifical Catholic University of São Paolo, Brazil. She has been a visiting fellow of the Human Rights Program at Harvard Law School, and of the Max Planck Institute for Comparative Public Law and International law; and a human rights fellow at the Centre for Brazilian Studies at the University of Oxford. Professor Piovesan is a Member of the Organization of American States working group for monitoring the San Salvador Protocol on social, economic and cultural rights.  She was also a member of United Nations High Level Task Force on the implementation of the right to development. Professor Piovesan is a Member of the Latin American and Caribbean Committee for the Defence of Women's Rights, of the National Council in Defence of the Rights of the Human Person, the Centre for Global Justice and the Human Rights University Network. Professor Piovesan is the author of several books and other publications on human rights and global development issues.  Currently she is a Humboldt Foundation George Foster research fellow.
